The Role of Council on Ageing

Inform, Communicate, Facilitate, Debate and Consult—regular mailings, newsletters, open meetings, collective responses to consultations, informed debates and we act strategically to bring key issues to the attention of service users.

  • Representation - we act as a collective voice for the sector with an interest in older people and provide and support voluntary sector representatives from our membership.

  • Partnership Working - we participate in the development of partnerships between voluntary organisations and statutory providers.

  • Promote the involvement of service users and carers - We train and support ‘older people representatives’ from members of our Older Peoples Panel to Partnerships and other bodies that are concerned with issues affecting older people.

  • Research - We undertake or participate in research into the experiences of older people in relation to health and social care services.

Membership

Membership is open to any voluntary organisation/community group/individual working with older people or their carers in the London Borough of Bromley.
